Partners

JEAI GLOGORENA is funded by IRD and works with a number of partners, who are its interlocutors in the implementation of its research programme.

Institute for Development Research (IRD)

The Institut de Recherche pour le Développement (IRD) is a French public institution under the dual supervision of the Ministries of Higher Education, Research and Foreign Affairs. Since its creation in 1998, IRD has engaged in equitable scientific partnerships with the countries of the South to address global challenges such as pandemics, climate change and humanitarian crises.

IRD conducts interdisciplinary research in a variety of fields, including health, environment, humanities and social sciences. Its activities are oriented towards sustainable development, contributing to the reduction of inequalities and the preservation of ecosystems. The Institute works with many academic institutions, non-governmental organizations and international agencies to build local capacity and promote science for development.

As part of GLOGORENA, IRD is providing its expertise in natural resource governance, particularly in the Congo Basin. This collaboration combines local knowledge with international scientific approaches, thereby promoting sustainable and inclusive management of natural resources.

Institute of International Relations of Cameroon (IRIC)

The Institute of International Relations of Cameroon (IRIC) was established in 1971 by presidential decree. It is one of the institutions of the University of Yaoundé II and is intended to train diplomats and experts in international relations.

The IRIC offers master's and doctoral courses in areas such as diplomacy, international trade, finance and international law. The Institute relies on a network of national and international partners to provide quality training adapted to contemporary challenges in international relations.

By working with GLOGORENA, IRIC contributes to the training of professionals capable of managing complex issues related to natural resource governance. This synergy between academic research and vocational training is essential to develop sustainable solutions adapted to the local realities of the Congo Basin.

Paul Ango Ela Foundation

The Paul Ango Ela Foundation, founded in 1999, is a Cameroonian non-governmental organization dedicated to the promotion of democratic governance, human rights and sustainable development in Central Africa. It bears the name of Paul Ango Ela, a Cameroonian intellectual and geopoliticologist engaged in the struggle for independence and social justice.

The Foundation conducts awareness-raising, training and advocacy programmes on issues such as good governance, citizen participation and sustainable management of natural resources. It works with local organizations, government institutions and international partners to build community capacity and promote inclusive public policies.

As part of GLOGORENA, the Paul Ango Ela Foundation brings its expertise in governance and citizen participation. His in-depth knowledge of the local context and political dynamics in Central Africa is valuable in ensuring that the solutions proposed by the project are adapted and accepted by local communities. By way of illustration, in November 2024, a workshop co-organised with the PAFE brought together representatives of the CSOs engaged in the region, marking an important step in integrating local voices into our projects.

Official University of Bukavu

Located in the eastern region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Official University of Bukavu (UOB) is an essential partner of GLOGORENA. This academic institution is distinguished by its commitment to producing knowledge tailored to local needs while forming a new generation of leaders in the social and political sciences.

The collaboration between GLOGORENA and the UOB translates into exploratory missions, workshops and conferences, allowing a deeper understanding of local governance dynamics. During a visit in November 2024, the GLOGORENA team was able to interact with UOB researchers on socio-anthropological issues related to the exploitation of natural resources, thus strengthening the synergy between academic research and field action.

Why do these partnerships matter?

The challenges of natural resource governance in the Congo Basin are too broad and complex to be addressed by a single entity. Collaborations with partners such as the Paul Ango Foundation (FPAE), the Official University of Bukavu (UOB), the University of Mbujimayi, the Department of Sociology of the University of Yaounde I, the University of Bertua, CIFOR-ICRAF enrich our perspectives and enhance our impact. These alliances enable GLOGORENA to realize its vision of inclusive, transparent and sustainable governance in the Congo Basin. We will continue to cultivate these relationships and build new ones, convinced that partnership is the key to achieving meaningful results.
